Local Resident Files Noise Complaint Against European Tour After Roof Is Used As A Tee Box

A local resident recently filed a formal noise complaint against the European Tour for using their roof as an actual tee box during competition.
The disgruntled tenant of the villa that overlooks the 16th hole at Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort in Antalya, Turkey, which also plays host to this past week’s Turkish Airlines Open, filed the complaint with the club’s executive board on Friday afternoon.
“For the three straight days, all we’ve heard are loud footsteps, obnoxious clapping, and people shouting ‘mashed potatoes’ at the top of their lungs,” part of the statement read. “We don’t even have neighbors above us.”
In order to lengthen the hole, as well as add an extra bit of flair to the event, the always innovative European Tour decided to install a tee box on the roof of the villa, which features a sparkling blue pool and chaise lounges.
Unfortunately, it appears they failed to acknowledge that somebody actually lives there.
“We regret any inconvenience we may have caused,” said CEO Keith Pelley. “But you have to admit, it is a very cool idea.”
Obviously, not everyone agrees.
(Editor’s note: contents of this story are slightly fabricated … but there really was a rooftop tee box on the 16th hole at the TA Open)
