Bridgestone Introduces New DriveGuard Run Flat Wedges, Promises To Drive Up To 50 Miles After A Puncture

(TIS) — The wedge market just got a little more interesting after Bridgestone unveiled their new DriveGuard Run Flat line on Tuesday. The company which most people associate with tires, promises that these wedges will drive up to 50 miles after a puncture … a feature no other manufacturer is currently offering.

“When we were designing our new wedges, we took a look at the competition and decided to stay true to our roots,” said Zack Kupperbusch, Bridgestone’s head of golf club marketing. “Our Run Flat tires are some of the most popular on the road today so we applied that same technology to golf.”

The result features a teardrop shape and Tour Grind sole that provides maximum versatility around the greens. But it’s how they can get you to safety when you encounter that pesky nail in the road that really sets them apart.

“We pride ourselves on game-changing innovation and wanted to prove we are more than just tires,” he said while drawing back a bow and arrow aiming at a piece of rubber across the room. “You know … we make golf balls, too.”
