Web.com Pro Misses Out on PGA Tour Card in Impressive Fashion
- Updated: October 4, 2017
If you ever stood over a 3-footer with something riding on it, you know the feeling. As the eloquent Johnny Miller would say, “NERVES!!!!!”
Now try to imagine that same putt with your job on the line. That’s basically what Web.com Tour Pro Matt Harmon faced on Monday at the Web.com Tour Championship.
Needing to get in the top-25 on the money list to earn his coveted Tour card, the 32-year-old Michigan State grad who’s played in four PGA Tour events in his career was well on his way to the promised land beginning the final round in 16th place.
Through 16 holes, he was 2-under and had three feet for birdie on 17. Knock it in, make a routine par on 18 and you’re golden…simple, right? Wrong! Remember, this is golf…

Unfortunately for Harmon, the nerves were all too real. He went full am-status and didn’t even sniff the hole pulling the putt like a 20-handicapper. Then in impressive fashion, he managed to three-jack 18 sending him tumbling down the leaderboard.
When the dust settled, he was two painful strokes away from earning his card. As for his putter, well let’s just say it didn’t make it either.
Nobody ever said golf was easy….not even Johnny (actually….maybe he did?!)
