Golfkicks Transform Your Favorite Shoes Into Golf Shoes
- Updated: October 29, 2019
The golf shoe game has officially changed. Introducing Golfkicks, the first and only company of its kind is disrupting the golf industry by transforming your favorite shoes into golf shoes.
The innovative Golfkicks kit provides you with 20 golf spikes that can adhere to any shoe with a sole that is at least a half-inch thick. The best part is that you can do it yourself!
Founded by Tyler Stuart, John Krosky and Matt Mockus, the Denver-based start-up was featured on ABC’s Shark Tank (Season 11, Episode 5) and secured a deal with Dallas Mavericks owner/world-famous entrepreneur, Mark Cuban, for $300,000 in exchange for a 13 percent stake in the company.
Along with the spikes, they include a small Phillips-head screwdriver, a Sharpie to mark the soles of your shoes for pilot holes, and a 5/32 pilot tool. According to the Golfkicks website, you also may need a hex handle for the pilot tool and Shoe Goo or other strong glue. One kit works for men’s, women’s and children’s shoes.
How do you install Golfkicks?
It’s simple. Find a flat surface on the sole. Place four cleats on the toe area and four on the heel, like the cleats on a standard golf shoe are arranged.
Use the Sharpie to mark the spots, make pilot holes (if you have Version 3 with the metal threads, no pilot holes are necessary unless your shoes have carbon fiber ie Jordan 11 etc) and screw in the Golfkicks cleats. Boom. You got a new pair of golf shoes.
If you want to take Golfkicks out, no problem. While they are meant to be permanent, they easily can be removed. Granted, there will be small holes left in the rubber soles, but according to the company, since their not meant to be drilled all the way through, you’ll barely notice a difference.
Have questions? They have tutorials for all your needs posted on their website. If you don’t see what you are looking for, you can always shoot them an email.
Ever dream of wearing your Jordans, Chuck Taylors, Vans, or even flip-flops on the course? Now you can, with significantly better traction! Cleats come in 7 different colors and are available for $32 on the Golfkicks website.
