PGA Tour Recap: Kevin Tway Wins Season Opener In Napa
- Updated: October 7, 2018
Who: Kevin Tway
What: Won the PGA Tour’s season-opening Safeway Open in a 3-man playoff
Where: Silverado Resort and Spa, Napa CA
Why it’s important: This was Tway’s first win on Tour and gives him a 2-year exemption which should free him up to do work in 2019. He also took home $1.15 million and jumped to the top of the FedEx Cup standings. The long-hitting 30-year-old has a chance to have a break out year.
How it went down: Tway came from behind birdieing his last 5 holes, including 3 in a playoff to beat Ryan Moore, who started the day 7 shots back, and Brandt Snedeker who blew a 3-shot cushion.
Here’s a free lesson:
No one to blame but myself.. I have to find a way to win today.. Can’t wait to tee it up next week in Malaysia.. Not going to let 9 bad holes make me forget about the other 63..I am going to get that 10th win soon!! Thanks for all the support, don’t deserve it after that junk!!

Sneds went out in -1, but bogeyed his first 3 holes on the back 9 to lose the lead. He posted a final round 74 and was eliminated on the first playoff hole.
Bomb Alert:
Luke List tattooed his drive on the 575 par-5 18th on Sunday 382 yards. He put the next one on the green then rolled in a 32 footer for eagle and a T4 finish.
Luke List is in the clubhouse at -13 thanks to a perfectly played 18th hole.#LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/TaWlWol5Gg
