Sergio’s Wife Fires Back At Golf Channel Reporter
- Updated: April 6, 2018
If Sergio Garcia had any hopes of repeating as Masters champion, they were washed away on the par-5 15 known as Firethorn during Thursday’s first round when made an inexplicable 13, which included rinsing 5 balls in the pond in front of the green. It was hilarious.

As expected, Twitter had jokes … one of which was made by Golf Channel’s Rich Learner:
Sergio won’t be naming his next kid Firethorn.

Of course, this is in reference to the fact Sergio named his daughter Azalea after the 13th hole at Augusta National.
However, one person who didn’t think it was too funny was Sergio’s wife, Angela.
Hey @RichLernerGC, the next time you decide to tweet about my future child why don’t you use your brain and not do it? Don’t be an idiot. @GolfChannel https://t.co/Y4kHNZjDjv

Learner later apologized because he’s a class act.
My apologies to Angela and Sergio for my poorly timed attempt to lighten the mood. Missed the mark with a flippant comment. No ill intent.

It was a joke. Get over it.
Want to know what else is funny? Sergio missed the cut by a mile.
