Tony Finau Dislocates Ankle Before First Ever Masters
- Updated: April 4, 2018
Imagine qualifying for your first Masters and a dislocating your ankle the day before. That’s exactly what happened to Tony Finau on Wednesday after making a hole-in-one during the Masters Par-3 Contest.
The 28-year-old Finau aced the sixth-hole and celebrated like a madman running off the tee, but that’s when things got ugly.

While skipping backward like an asshole, Finau appeared to dislocate his ankle. But like the true athlete he is, he popped that baby right back into place and walked it off like a champ.
More like Tony Finowwwwww … am I right?
Finau gingerly played the final remaining 3 holes, but his status to compete this week is questionable. He’s scheduled for an MRI on Thursday morning prior to his 12:43 tee time.
Indeed @tonyfinaugolf did dislocate his left ankle today during the Par 3 contest but immediately put it back in place. X-rays tonight revealed no breaks. Will have an MRI tomorrow morning. If results are positive and swelling is under control will try to play @TheMasters.

Last year’s favorite and world no.1 Dustin Johnson was forced to WD after he slipped in his rental home and injured his back on Wednesday. He was unable to give it a go.
“Hold my beer,” Finau said.
Just kidding, he didn’t really say that.
