2018 Open Championship Purse Breakdown

The British Open / Open Championship (whatever) is golf’s oldest championship and as expected, it also boasts one of it’s richest purses.
The prize fund for the 2018 Open Championship contested at Carnoustie is set at $10.5 million with the winner’s share being a decent $1.89 million. Oh … and that’s in addition to the famed Claret Jug and the amazing title of “Champion Golfer of the Year.”
Second place will cash in $1.09 million … not bad for being the first loser.
“The prize fund reflects The Open’s position as one of the world’s great sporting events and we look forward to seeing the best players in the sport competing for the Claret Jug at Carnoustie,” said R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers.
