Is This Bunker Rake Hiding System A Good Idea?
- Updated: August 17, 2019
Where there are bunkers, there usually are rakes. But what if we told you there is a golf course that spent money to install a rake hiding system?
Apparently, that’s what Bighorn Country Club in Palm Springs, CA did and the contraption is mesmerizing:

Is it cool? ABSOLUTELY! Is it really necessary? NOT AT ALL!
But according to their website, Bighorn is “The Most Innovative, Imaginative Club in the World.” IN THE WORLD!!!!!
While it’s a cool idea to get rid of obstructions on the course because that’s technically what rakes are when not being used but what if your ball hit the rake casing and bounces 10 yards over the green? Not cool at all. But is it a good idea?
Sure, as long as they are maintained well (ie. no water filled up, no slimy handle, etc.) Although we have a feeling Bighorn has everything under control, especially if they have sensors that AUTOMATICALLY POP UP!
Bighorn is so elite there’s a sensor that pops it up when you walk up to it.

What would be even cooler are robots that raked the traps for you. Now that’s really what we hope to see someday.
