BREAKING: Mars Lands 2228 PGA Championship, 2232 Ryder Cup

Growing the game just got a little more out of this world. In a move widely expected by the PGA of America today, they announced that planet Mars will host the PGA Championship in 2228 and Ryder Cup in 2232.

“It is with great pleasure to inform you that we will be taking our two biggest events and bringing them to a place where no sport has ever gone before,” said PGA of America President Paul Levy in a statement. “The Red Planet has been on our radar for a while now, and we’re excited to showcase what outer space has to offer.”

While the course, air supply situation, and every logistical detail are still TBD, plans are already in the works to promote the event which includes a benefit concert featuring Darius Rucker, Niall Horan, and John Daly.

“We view this decision as one small step for man, but more importantly, one giant leap in making golf a truly universal game,” he said.

In case you’re wondering about zero gravity, don’t worry. According to early studies conducted by the USGA, the ball won’t travel any further than it does now.

(Editor’s note: contents of this story are slightly fabricated … but the PGA of America really did announce that SF’s Olympic Club will host the 2028 PGA Championship and 2032 Ryder Cup … and also the 2028 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine)
