Bryson Says His Driver “Sucks”; Cobra Responds With Straight FIRE

Bryson DeChambeau blamed his equipment, specifically his driver, for sucking in a post-round interview and people from Cobra were PISSED!

After posting a 1-over par 71 in the first round of 149th British Open at Royal St. George’s – where he hit only FOUR fairways – DeChambeau did not hold back his frustration with his driver.

“The driver sucks,” he said. “It’s not a good face for me.”

He’s “living on the razor’s edge” when it comes to mis-hits so he needs it to be more forgiving.

Now would be a good time to remind everyone Bryson games a 46″ Cobra 5 degree Radspeed driver and swings a million miles per hour. You don’t need to be a scientist to understand it’s a small margin of error.

Maybe Bryson’s better off not doing post-round interviews when he plays like garbage?

Cobra’s response was FIRE

Golfweek got in touch with Cobra spokesperson Ben Schominwho also caddied for Bryson when his regular caddie quit the day of the tournament – and he had some words for Bryson:

“Everybody is bending over backwards. We’ve got multiple guys in R&D who are CAD’ing (computer-aided design) this and CAD-ing that, trying to get this and that into the pipeline faster. (Bryson) knows it,” Schomin said. “It’s just really, really painful when he says something that stupid.”

“He has never really been happy, ever. Like, it’s very rare where he’s happy,” Schomin said. “Now he’s in a place where he’s swinging a 5-degree driver with 200 mph of ball speed. Everybody is looking for a magic bullet. Well, the magic bullet becomes harder and harder to find the faster you swing and the lower your loft gets.”

“So when he’s talking about the razor’s edge, we’re not going to be able to help that,” Schomin said

These people are good at what they do, but they aren’t magicians! But the dude expects perfection yesterday.

“We’re trying to stay ahead of it, so we’ll place an order for 10 prototype heads and then, literally as soon as that order is placed, usually within a week or two, we might be ordering more of something else,” Schomin said.

TEN PROTOTYPES!!! TEN!!! 10 just in case he didn’t like any of them. Think about that.

“You know, it’s the longest club, with the least amount of loft that is swung the fastest,” Schomin said. “Every ingredient has been added to the difficult salad. Literally, it can’t be any more of a challenge. So it’s this constant work in progress.”

“It’s like an 8-year-old that gets mad at you,” he said. “They might fly off the handle and say, ‘I hate you.’ But then you go. ‘Whoa, no you don’t.’

He compared Bryson to an 8-year-old! Is this good for the brand?

“We know as adults that they really don’t mean that and I know that if I got him cornered right now and said, ‘What the hell did you say that for,’ he would say that he was mad. He didn’t really mean to say it that harshly. He knows how much everyone bends over backwards for him, but it’s still not cool.”

Of course, Bryson apologized for what he said. You can’t just openly bash the people who are PAYING YOU to play their equipment without saying you’re sorry.

Well, unless you’re Bryson.

Do you see the word “sorry” in there? No…because he’s not really that sorry. It’s never him, it’s always something else.

Blame whatever or whoever you can instead of taking ownership for driving it like a jackass. In this case, it’s his equipment because that’s convenient.

The dude always wants it both ways and unfortunately, that’s not reality.

However, if this is some new angle to win the $40 million PGA Tour Player Impact Program prize, we gotta say it’s impressive!

[…] Or maybe he just thinks the vaccine sucks, like his driver – which also sucks. […]
