Leadbetter’s Quote About Tiger In 1997 Is Pure Comedic Gold
- Updated: November 6, 2019
A David Leadbetter quote about Tiger Woods has emerged on the internet and it is pure comedic gold.
Leadbetter, the longtime swing coach whose students include the likes of Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, and Ben An, apparently went on record back in February 1997 saying that Tiger was one-dimensional!!!

http://gty.im/540253012Right now, Tiger is a one-dimensional player who swings full on practically every shot… Another thing that will prevent Tiger from winning a major is pressure. There’s a big difference between winning at Las Vegas and winning at Augusta… He has to be his dues.
Bold prediction sir. Listen, we get it. Everyone has their skeptics. Some do it because they actually believe it. Some do it for attention. Of course, Tiger went on to win the Masters by TWELVE two months later.
We all know what happened after that. Plus the fist pump of a 5-time Masters champion en route to winning his historic 82nd PGA Tour title is just icing on the cake.
Leadbetter was right about one thing, Tiger definitely paid his dues. He paid them off the golf course. Injuries, scandals, DUIs, fusion back surgeries… the list is absurd. And he overcame all of it. But man, when he’s on the golf course and is healthy and is playing well, it’s magical.
It’s fun to talk about it now because of his ridiculous success. The records (cut streaks, weeks at world no.1 etc etc), everything. He’s got his own wiki page for his career achievements for goodness sake!
Not only did people learn. They learned quickly. Right, Curtis Strange?
“You’ll learn.”

This interview looks much different 20 years later.
