Random Dude Hilariously Withdraws Name From Ryder Cup Consideration
- Updated: April 23, 2018
The Ryder Cup may still be several months away, but Team Europe took a major hit when relatively unknown Stephen Atkinson informed Captain Thomas Bjorn that he will be withdrawing his name from captain’s pick consideration.
You may be asking yourself who the hell Stephen Atkinson is. According to the letter, he is currently ranked 52,187 in the world and just won the West Hill monthly medal … quite a resume.
Obviously devastated, a distraught Bjorn responded on Monday asking him to reconsider:
Unbelievable
Where do I go from here?

Atkinson, who also serves as the Captain of the Babalou Golf Society, squashed speculation that he could instead serve as a vice-captain citing the double duty would be “unfair to both the society and the Ryder Cup team.”
Clearly, this dude is joking and it was funny enough to Bjorn’s attention and ours.
Well played, sir.
