WATCH: Rory McIlroy Basically Drives Green On A Par-4, Walks Away With Double

Rory McIlroy put the “am” in pro-am when he inexplicably made double bogey after basically driving the green on Friday. The four-time major winner, who’s paired up with his father Gerry this week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, imploded on the par-4 5th hole at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club during the second round:
Granted it wasn’t a 5-putt since he was just off the green, it still doesn’t make it any better. Especially considering this is McIlroy’s first PGA Tour event of the year and he finished 140th in strokes-gained-putting last season.
Sure, we’ve all have 5-putted at some point … at least I have … but fortunately, I didn’t have shot tracker following my every move. This is stuff nightmares are made of:
Rory posted a 3-over 74 at MPCC, the easiest of the three courses this week. He’ll need to go low at Pebble Beach on Saturday to have a chance at making the 3-day cut.
