European Tour Pays The Wrong Tommy Fleetwood
- Updated: August 9, 2018
Tommy Fleetwood, a Florida teaching pro, find quite the surprise in his bank account when he opened it on Wednesday. That’s because he received Tommy Fleetwood, the pro golfer’s 12th-place check from British Open worth $154,480.
No joke, a friend received Tommy Fleetwood’s Open Championship winnings in his bank account last weekend!! They have the same name and he was a PGA pro but still, how does this happen? Didn’t believe him until I saw it…good thing he is an honest guy! pic.twitter.com/bE534xfYDV

See it? Right above the $14.37 charge at WalMart. You can’t make this stuff up.
The money has since been rerouted to the Englishman.
“I honestly didn’t know anything about it. I wouldn’t even know if I’d been paid or not because I don’t really look. It looks pretty genuine and they are looking into it and I’m sure they’ll feel pretty bad about it. It’s a funny story” said Fleetwood according to the Guardian.
The European Tour apologized to both Tommy Fleetwoods and conveniently blamed the mixup on a “clerical error.”
If any of the professional tours would like our bank info let us know, would be more than happy to provide it … we go by the name of Dustin Johnson.
