Brooks Denies DJ Beef, Blames Media For Doing Their Job
- Updated: October 3, 2018
Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka reportedly had to be separated after tempers flared following Team USA’s horrific Ryder Cup loss in Paris.
However, Koepka denied the beef every happened and blamed the media for good measure.
According to Golf Channel, Koepka spoke to reporters at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and said: “This Dustin thing, I just don’t get. There was no fight, no argument. He’s one of my best friends. I love the kid to death. We talked on the phone Monday and yesterday, so you tell me how we fought.
“People like to make a story and run with it. It’s not the first time there’s been a news story that isn’t true that’s gone out.”
The Telegraph first reported the incident citing multiple sources that Koepka and Johnson nearly got into it after a disagreement in the visiting team room.
‘There was no fight, no argument.’

Fake news?
“As far as camaraderie, it was fine, it was perfect,” Koepka said. “The problem is you guys (the media) try to find a reason why we lost and the simple reason is we just didn’t play good enough.
“We didn’t make the putts, hit the fairways, especially me. I lost two matches and halved another one. If I win those, if Tiger (Woods) wins his; Dustin lost one with me and then I think lost in the singles. If we play how we’re supposed to play, we win. There’s nothing wrong with our team. Our team was great. Jim was great.”
Yes, it is a fact that if your team plays well, you usually win … but the conditions have to be right in order to play well. Players have to feed off each other, believe in each other, lead each other.
Instead, we put Phil in foursomes (!!!!!) and hear things like Patrick Reed blaming Spieth for not wanting to play with him.
The media is doing their job, and clearly, something was wrong with the team otherwise we would’ve won.
Now since that’s settled, who’d win in a fight … Brooks or DJ?
DJ’s got reach, but Brooks is built like a piece of iron. Think we have to take Brooks here.
