Girl Told She Isn’t Allowed To Win Boys High School Golf Tournament…Dusts Field Like A Boss Anyways

Telegram (Worcester, MA) — On Tuesday, Lunenburg High junior Emily Nash also shot a 75 in the Central Mass. Division 3 boys’ golf tournament at Blissful Meadows. And while her 3-over-par score was four shots better than runner-up Nico Ciolino of AMSA, she wasn’t awarded the first-place trophy, and won’t be invited to next week’s state tournament at Wyantenuck CC in Great Barrington.

According to MIAA rules, “Girls playing on a fall boys’ team cannot be entered in the Boys Fall Individual Tournament. They can only play in the Boys Team Tournament. If qualified, they can play in the spring Girls Sectional and State Championships.”

So Nash’s score on Tuesday only counted toward her team’s total. The Blue Knights did not qualify for the state tournament. Central Mass. Division 3 boys’ golf tournament director Kevin Riordan said he made Nash and her coach aware of the rule before the tournament began.

Ciolino, who was awarded the first-place trophy, offered his to Nash, but she declined to accept it.

Rules … shmules. Give this girl the damn trophy. She didn’t just beat these dudes, she mopped the floor with them .. by FOUR! While this story probably won’t gain the attention it deserves, it should because anything gender-related seems to be a national issue nowadays. But if we’re being real for a minute, how badass is playing in a tournament you know you can’t legally win and dusting the field just for spite?

Allow me to relate this back to some of the greatest movies of all time … she could’ve gone the Ladybugs route and disguised herself as a different gender, but instead went full Becky “Icebox” O’Shea (shout to the Little Giants) and brought the pain.

Let’s also not overlook the fact that when she was offered the trophy by the official “winner,” she declined…but notice how it doesn’t say politely.

That’s what happens when the rest of your team sucks.
