Snow Doesn’t Stop Montana High School Golf Championship

Golf is a hard enough game already. Now, imagine having to play it in the snow for a state title. Welcome to Montana!

On Tuesday, the final round of the Montana Class AA State Golf Championships was held at Meadow Lark Country Club in Great Falls, MT. Needless to say, the weather didn’t exactly hold up for the competition.

According to 406 MT Sports, the snow started coming down on the back nine as students battled for the championship and apparently it didn’t let it up until after the final putt fell.

Players were forced to use their hands to shovel their lines on the putting green to give them at least a chance. Some even tried chipping a la Phil Mickelson from back in the day.

While folks might argue they should’ve postponed the tournament since playing into the snow isn’t exactly a fair test of golf, we respect the decision to power through the heavy stuff until a winner was crowned.

If you can shoot a decent number hitting a WHITE ball around in the WHITE snow and finding it in freezing temperatures with the wind howling without catching frostbite, you deserve to win the trophy.

Are these playing conditions absurd? Yes. Would most professional golfers refuse to play? Also probably yes. Are Montana high school students arguably the hardest golfers on the planet? Without question.
