OP-ED: Golf Again Belongs To Tiger Woods

Tiger haters and fans all have something in common this week, golf again belongs to Tiger Woods.

Whether you’re loyal to him as a golf fan or not the “Tiger Factor” is back. All this talk and buzz has re-generated golf fans.

Brandel Chamblee from the Golf Channel has argued the point that the intimidation Woods use to have is no longer Relevant, but I beg to differ.

What happened to guys like Rose and McIlroy etc … this week besides folding under Tiger’s power?

The best players in the world looked like the common golfer and fairways became more narrow than they should have been … the hole was smaller once again just because of Tiger’s aura around the course.

On Sunday, there was that feeling once again that Woods was unbeatable at East Lake and he stepped up to the plate. The putts that had to fall fell again this week, the crowd was loud and hopeful.

Next season is going to be one for the ages. Will Woods finally pass Jack? Today, it seems just that much more tangible. If he doesn’t, at least we had the Tour Championship at East Lake in 2018.

Next up is the Ryder Cup. I’d play Tiger against anyone from Europe. If today was a preview of what’s to come, Team Europe may not have a prayer.
