This Reporter Got What He Deserved After Asking Jordan Spieth’s Good Friend A Dumb Question
- Updated: October 24, 2017
In case you didn’t know, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth have been friends for a while now. Some might even call them good buddies. We get it. However, sometimes the media tends to harp on things. You know, like when the same reporter asks every single player in the media center what they think Hideki Matsuyama’s chances of winning are this week. Good news, folks! We were treated to a classic case of JSGB-syndrome over the weekend at the CJ Cup.

According to a Golf Channel report, shortly after Justin Thomas fended off Marc Leishman in a playoff he was asked the following:
Q: Jason Day mentioned that he has never seen winds like this before. Are you used to such windy conditions? If you were to give Jordan Spieth any advice playing on this course, what would you say?
Justin Thomas: Jordan has played a lot of golf in the wind. He doesn’t need advice from me to help him. In terms of the wind, all of us have played in the wind this strong. It’s just that I’ve never played in a place where it bounces around and switches as much as it does here. I think because of all the trees, how often you are down going through the trees around the greens, it bounces off of them a lot. It really switches quite often. It’s really difficult to chip and putt because it’s true the fact that your putts can totally change the break with the wind changing or your chips can get up in the air and catch a gust and go one way or the other. It really is a huge difference. It is definitely one of the most difficult conditions I’ve played in.
Like the Player of the Year he is, JT handled the question with grace as he’s done a million times before. Guess you get used to it when you win 5 events in one calendar year including the PGA Championship and the FedEx Cup…and also shooting 59…and a 63 in the U.S. Open. But to be fair…Jordan did win the British.

It all led to this amazing exchange which – you guessed it – was asked by the very same reporter:
Q: If you were to come back next year would you convince your good friend Jordan Spieth to come with you?
Justin Thomas: I don’t care what he does.
HAHAHA!!!! Tell us how you really feel JT!!!! What a refreshingly honest answer. But really, what a dumb question. The dude just won and you need to ask about his boyfriend? Have some respect…
