Tiger and Phil “The Match Part 2” officially a go; trash talk begins

The Match part 2 between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson is officially a go! The formal announcement was made on Thursday and yes as expected, it will feature Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.
The details…
- Who: Tiger Woods/Peyton Manning vs. Phil Mickelson/Tom Brady
- What: The Match: Champions for Charity
- Where: Medalist Golf Club, Hobe Sound, Florida. Tiger’s home course.
- Why: To raise money, obviously. WarnerMedia and the athletes will collectively make a charitable donation of $10 million to benefit COVID-19 relief. The competition will also include a partnership with the ALL IN Challenge, along with additional on-course competitive challenges for charity.
- When: Sunday, May 24 – 3 p.m. ET. Turner Sports is running the show. Will be simulcast on TNT, TBS, truTV and HLN.
- Format: Best ball on the front and a modified alternate shot format on the back… meaning both players will tee off and choose the best, then play alternate shot from there.
No caddies. Players will reportedly be mic’d up, take carts and maintain social distancing.

These are sports legends talking about golf and needling each other. Granted it’s on TV and they have to keep it as clean as possible. But Brady talking about how shitty his game feels or Tiger telling Phil the fairways are so wide at Medalist, even Phil can hit them is gold.
Hopefully, there will be a little more smack talk than the first Match which featured Phil’s heavy breathing a lot of the time. Brady and Peyton certainly help.
We’re off to a good start. A world with sports is better than a world without sports. If and when this happens it will be a welcome sight for all.
