Europe Continues Ryder Cup Roll, Leads 8-4
- Updated: September 29, 2018
Another day, another dominant European performance. The Euros took 3 of 4 from the US in Saturday morning’s fourball and lead 8-4. That makes 7 straight wins for Europe going back to Friday’s foursomes.
The US couldn’t seem to find the fairway – again – which is required at Le Golf National and it cost them. 2 hours into the coverage, the US won a combined 2 holes. TWO!
Here’s what went down:
Sergio & Rory almost blow it, hang on to win 2&1
Jumping out to a 4-up lead on Finau/Koepka, Sergio and Rory made some stupid mistakes which the US took advantage of cutting the lead to 1 thru 16. But on the par-4 17th, Sergio poured one in for birdie and the win.

Casey/Hatton dispatch DJ/Rickie 3&2
Paul Casey made 5 birdies on the first 6 holes as Europe led the whole way in a pretty uneventful match. DJ holed a chip on 15 to extend, but it ended on the next hole.

Molinari/Fleetwood take apart Tiger/Reed 4&3
“Moli-Wood” continue to steamroll poor Tiger who for the second straight day, had to carry Patrick Reed on his fused back. After grabbing a 2-up lead, Tiger fought back winning 2 holes while Patrick watched from the sideline. But then the Euros won 4 of the next 5 holes and that was that.

JT/Spieth grind out a win 2&1
The US got their lone point this morning against Poulter/Rahm. The match was all square at the turn, but the US took control with birdies on 11 & 12 to go 2-up. Rahm won the 13th with a birdie of his own, but JT ended it on 17 with a 3.

If the US wants any shot to retain the cup, they will need to make a statement in Saturday afternoon foursomes.
