Lee Westwood using his putter to pick his ball out of the hole after sinking the winning putt at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is the hero we need.
The 46-year-old is a role model for old people and folks with bad backs everywhere.

Boss moves only! With Sunday’s win in Abu Dhabi, Westy became the 3rd player in European Tour history to win in 4 different decades. While he still hasn’t won a major, it’s quite an accomplishment.
This marks his 25th European Tour win and 44th victory worldwide.
The putter Westwood is gaming is the Ping Sigma 2 Fetch, which has the added feature of getting the ball out of the hole for you.

The only downside is that it’s got to be tough to use this feature if you putt with the flagstick in. Of course, you have the option to use that little rubber thing you putt on the butt end of your putter grip.
Just do your course a favor and don’t wreck the edges of the cup when getting your ball out. This applies even when using your hand like a normal person.
Westy’s words of wisdom: ‘I Don’t Care’
In 2019 interview with Golf Digest, Westwood went on record saying:
“I’m quite a dangerous golfer at the moment because I don’t care anymore. I’m playing golf like I don’t care. Greg Norman told me to do that years ago. He said, ‘Try your balls off and don’t give a bleep about the outcome or the result.’ So that’s what I’m trying to do. I’m playing like I did when I was a kid really. That doesn’t mean I’m not trying. But I don’t care. There’s a difference.”
Now, Westy is back in the winner’s circle and has earned a trip to the Masters. Wise words from the former world number 1. Maybe it could even help your game!
