Nobody Wants To Be Paired With Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau Least Favorite Player To Be Paired With

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! PGA Tour players revealed who their least favorite person to be paired with is and if we’re being honest, the answers really weren’t that surprising.

According to Golf.com’s annual anonymous pro survey, “Anyone who plays slowly” received the majority of the votes, with 26%. Shame on those guys who didn’t call out slow players when they had the chance. It was anonymous! Slow players should be tarred and feathered whenever they have the chance. But we do get some names.

Tied for the lead was the mad scientist Bryson DeChambeau and South African Slovakian Rory Sabbatini at an astounding 21%. Scotsman Martin Laird got 8% as well.

For perspective, there were 52 players (30 Tour winners, three major winners and 15 players who have made a Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup team) who participated in the survey. 21% is a GIGANTIC number.

Let’s start with Bryson. Granted he’s got 5 PGA Tour wins already, the guy has come under intense, well-deserved scrutiny after several instances of painfully slow play during the 18-19 season. Like when he took over 3 minutes to play a 70-yard shot or the time he took 2 minutes and 26 seconds to stroke a 10-foot putt.

But Bryson says he walks *faster* than everybody else and has seen hard data that shows he’s not the slowest on tour. The problem is nobody’s seen this hard data nor does anyone believe it exists.

Dude, you’re slow. When a bunch of your coworkers would prefer NOT to play golf with you, that should be a red flag. It’s not – wait for it – rocket science.

Rory Sabbatini isn’t exactly slow, he just seems like a dick and is notoriously in the running for this superlative. Remember when he left Ben Crane in the dust at the 2005 Booz Allen Classic? The one-time South African also recently received his Slovakian citizenship. He said he did it for his family. We think he did it as a play to qualify for the Olympics.

We have nothing negative to say about Martin Laird. When’s the last time you heard the Scots name? Exactly. Have to imagine he’s got to be pretty bad to make this list if nobody knows who he is.

On the flip side, Kevin Kisner led the way for most preferred playing partner at 9%. Charles Howell III and Harold Varner III each checked in with 7%. Must be a III thing. “Anyone who plays fast” while not the most creative answer also got 7%.

The full results of the Golf.com survey should be revealed later this week.
