USA Splits Afternoon Foursomes, Europe Leads Ryder Cup 10-6

USA split Saturday afternoon foursomes 2-2, giving Europe a beefy 10-6 advantage heading into Sunday singles.

While it’s not impossible to come back from 10-6, it’s only happened twice in history. Once in 1999 (Brookline) and again in 2012 (Medinah).

Here’s a quick recap of the matches:

Big trees fall hard

DJ/Brooks took on Rose/Stenson in the first match and quickly got out to a 1-up lead … and then it was gone. The Euros took the next 3 and never looked back winning 2&1.

This did not age well:

Bubba and Webb won? Bubba and Webb won!

Bubba/Webb were 0-5-0 combined in foursomes but for some reason, Captain Furyk decided to pair them together for the second day in a row. Fresh off their 4&2 loss yesterday, they got 4-up on Sergio/Noren at the turn and held on 3&2. We also need to mention this match featured a hole that was halved with a triple bogey!

Moliwood cannot be stopped

Molinari/Fleetwood capped off an impressive 4-0 record with a 5&4 win over the much-anticipated Tiger/Bryson pairing. Needless to say, the science experiment did not work.

Tiger went 0-3 making his career team record in the Ryder Cup 9-19-1. Not great, Bob!

JT and Spieth aka Ham and Egg win again

The best pairing the US had to offer this week beat Rory/Poulter 4&3. After losing the first 2 holes, they stormed back winning 6 of the next 10. Classic ham and egg.

It all comes down to Sunday singles…

We have a feeling…
